Description
The Sterling Hall bombing on the UW-Madison campus was a turning point in the Vietnam anti-war protests in Madison. On Wednesday, December 6, from 7 to 8 p.m., the Verona Public Library will host a film screening and discussion of The Bombing of Sterling Hall, a documentary by Christopher Lee that looks back at the bombing through interviews with some of those who experienced it. The bombing occurred on August 24, 1970, as a protest by four men against the university's research connections with the U.S. military during the Vietnam War. It resulted in the death of a university physics researcher and injuries to three others. Following the film screening, Christopher Lee, owner of Leemark Communications, will lead a discussion of his 1999 documentary film. This presentation is part of a program series related to the Ken Burns and Lynn Novick film, The Vietnam War. Programming for The Vietnam War is offered as part of a grant from the American Library Association, PBS, and WETA Washington, D.C. This presentation is free and open to the public. To register, or for information, visit www.veronapubliclibrary.org, or call 608-845-7180. The Verona Public Library is located at 500 Silent Street.
