Description
Explore the world of the Ice Age with special events for all ages at the Verona Public Library from March 1 through April 3. The March Mammoth exhibit features real and replica fossils, including life-size replicas of a giant woolly mammoth skull and a ferocious saber-toothed cat skeleton on display. Celebrate the opening of March Mammoth with presentations on Wisconsin’s Ice Age by Colossal Fossils on Saturday, March 3. The first presentation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. and will be repeated at 1 to 2 p.m. Learn about the amazing animals and humans that lived in our state during the last Ice Age, from the iconic woolly mammoth to the people who hunted them. Colossal Fossils’ hands-on programs promise an entertaining and educational family event. Featured will be Esther, the massive saber-toothed cat, and a giant short-faced bear, one of the largest carnivores to walk the earth. A few surprise dinosaur fossils will also make a special appearance. Light refreshments will be provided. The March Mammoth exhibit and presentations are the first events made possible and supported by the Verona Public Library Endowment Fund. All events are free and open to the public.
