Description
The Mason-Lindsay American Legion Post 385 will provide an opportunity to honor veterans who have sacrificed everything for their country this Memorial Day.
“Naturally, Memorial Day is to celebrate and honor those who have given their life for their country,” Stan Hook said.
The American Legion Post 385 and its Auxiliary Unit will host a Memorial Day service starting at 10 a.m. Monday, May 27, at the Verona Area Performing Arts Center, 300 Richard St.
The service will feature Denise Rohan, a Verona resident and U.S. Army veteran, as its speaker, Hook said. Rohan is the only woman in the history of the Legion to hold the title of national commander of the American Legion. She was elected in August 2017 for the year-long role.
After the service, a 21-gun salute will be shot and Taps will be played at the Verona Cemetery just across the street from the PAC, at 565 N. Main St. A potluck luncheon will follow the cemetery service at the Mason-Lindsay American Legion Hall, 207 Legion St.
