Word on the Street Verona Public Library 5K Run/Walk Saturday, May 5, 2018 Get out your running shoes for Word on the Street, the Verona Public Library’s 5K run/walk on Saturday, May 5. The 5K run/walk will begin at 8 a.m., and the kids’ 1/3-mile run begins at 9:30 a.m. The chip-timed 5K course will begin and end at the Verona Public Library, and goes through residential streets and along the park road in scenic Badger Prairie Park. Running-related quotes on signs and pavement chalk along the course will keep runners inspired and entertained. The kids’ run will follow a 1/3-mile course through Badger Prairie County Park, directly behind the library. Volunteers will be on hand to start the race and guide kids through their turns, while the kids will also follow a costumed character through the course. Adults are welcome to accompany their children free of charge. Each participant will receive a finisher ribbon. Register online at veronapubliclibrary.org. Early registration for the 5K is $27.50 through March 23. Registration after March 23 is $33. Registration for the kids’ run is $11. T-Shirts can only be guaranteed for registrations prior to April 21. All proceeds from Word on the Street will go to the Verona Public Library Endowment Fund.
